Larry Swantek Educational Studies Scholarship

Former MSGCU Board Member Larry Swantek, a teacher for 25 years, embraced his role as an educator and taught lessons that impacted thousands of students both in and out of the classroom. The Larry Swantek Educational Studies Scholarship is designed to assist high school seniors planning to major in Education in college or college students currently majoring in Education.

Students will be selected based on a number of criteria, including a critical thinking essay and academic achievement. Four (4) $2,500 scholarships will be offered. Applications are accepted January 11, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. EST through March 5, 2021 at 10:00 p.m. EST. Ready to get started? MSGCU non-members are welcome to apply. Membership is required if selected as a scholarship recipient. You are eligible to become an MSGCU member if you reside, work, attend school, or worship in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Joining is easy! If you're 18 or over, simply join online. You can also visit one of our branches and bring the following information: an initial savings deposit of $5 or more; a government-issued valid picture ID; and your social security number.
