Terms and Conditions

Please check the dates under each specific scholarship program for official application periods.

The Rudolph Heino High School Scholarship Program

Who Is Eligible To Apply?

This scholarship is open to high school seniors within the MSGCU field of membership who attend a high school or technical campus in the communities that MSGCU serves. Non-members may apply, but must become a member if selected as a scholarship recipient. Member accounts must be in good standing with this Credit Union (i.e. no delinquent or charged-off loans and a positive balance in all accounts).

Other eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Graduating high school senior in the class of 2018
  • Proof of acceptance to an accredited two- or four-year college or university
  • Resume outlining community service, school activities, and academic achievements
  • 250-500 word essay explaining how the applicant exemplifies the "people helping people" philosophy
  • 2017-2018 high school transcript
  • Application received by Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EST

MSGCU employees, family members of MSGCU employees, and Official Family are not eligible for any MSGCU scholarships.

How Are Recipients Selected?

Recipients of the Rudolph Heino High School Scholarship are selected based on a number of criteria, including:

  • Community service and outreach
  • School activities and involvement
  • Academic achievement (including GPA)
  • Essay
  • Other outstanding achievements

Award Description

There are five (5) MSGCU Rudolph Heino High School Scholarships available, each worth $2,500. They are one-time, non-renewable scholarships. Distribution will be made during the month of July 2018, payable directly to the college/university financial aid office. Scholarship funds may be applied to any component of the school's comprehensive expenses (including tuition, books, lab fees, or on-campus room and board).

Award Honorees

Award recipients will be notified on or around April 23, 2018. (Non-recipients will also be notified on or around April 23, 2018.)
 


The Larry Swantek Educational Studies Scholarship Program

Who Is Eligible To Apply?

This scholarship is open to high school seniors within the MSGCU field of membership who plan to major in Education. This scholarship is also open to college students within the MSGCU field of membership who are currently majoring in Education. Non-members may apply, but must become a member if selected as a scholarship recipient. Member accounts must be in good standing with this Credit Union (i.e. no delinquent or charged-off loans and a positive balance in all accounts).

Other eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Graduating high school senior in the class of 2018 planning to major in Education or current college student enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college or university School of Education
  • Official college transcript as proof of acceptance into School of Education at accredited two- or four-year college or university (college applicants only)
  • 2017-18 high school transcript (high school senior applicants only)
  • Proof of acceptance into School of Education at accredited two- or four-year university (high school senior applicants only)
  • Resume outlining school activities, academic achievements, and community service
  • 500-1,000 word essay explaining the most important lesson that the applicant plans to teach their students both in and out of the classroom
  • Application received by Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EST

Educational Solutions Scholarship Program

Who Is Eligible To Apply?

This scholarship is open to high school students within the MSGCU field of membership who attend a high school or technical campus in the communities that MSGCU serves. Non-members may apply, but must become a member if selected as a scholarship recipient. Member accounts must be in good standing with this Credit Union (i.e. no delinquent or charged-off loans and a positive balance in all accounts).

Other eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Graduating high school senior in the class of 2018
  • Proof of acceptance to an accredited two- or four-year college or university
  • Resume outlining school activities, academic achievements, and community service
  • 250-500 word essay explaining how education has helped the applicant and how gaining a scholarship will help them accomplish their goals
  • 2017-18 high school transcript
  • A letter of recommendation and an evaluation form from a teacher
  • Application received by Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EST

MSGCU employees, family members of MSGCU employees, and Official Family are not eligible for any MSGCU scholarships.

How Are Recipients Selected?

Recipients of the Educational Solutions Scholarship are selected based on a number of criteria, including:

  • Community service and involvement
  • School activities and involvement
  • Essay
  • Letter of recommendation and evaluation from teacher
  • Academic achievement

Letter of Recommendation

An evaluation form and a letter of recommendation from a teacher are required. The form and letter MUST be submitted from the teacher's school email address no later than March 2, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The form can be found in our online application portal. Follow the directions for the Letter of Recommendation task. Applications will be formally accepted once the evaluation form AND letter of recommendation are received.

Award Description

There are eighteen (18) MSGCU Educational Solutions Scholarships available, each worth $2,500. They are one-time, non-renewable scholarships. Distribution will be made during the month of July 2018, payable directly to the college/university financial aid office. Scholarship funds may be applied to any component of the school's comprehensive expenses (including tuition, books, lab fees, or on-campus room and board).

Award Honorees

Award recipients will be notified on or around April 23, 2018. (Non-recipients will also be notified on or around April 23, 2018.)


Educator Advantage Scholarship Program

Who Is Eligible To Apply?

This scholarship is open to certified educators and administrators within the MSGCU field of membership. Non-members may apply, but must become a member if selected as a scholarship recipient. Member accounts must be in good standing with this Credit Union (i.e. no delinquent or charged-off loans and a positive balance in all accounts).

Other eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Must be a certified educator (early childhood, primary, secondary, or post-secondary)
  • Applicant must be currently enrolled or accepted into a college, university, or other learning program
  • Official college transcript as proof of enrollment into a college, university, or other learning program
  • Resume outlining both academic achievements and employment history
  • 250-500 word essay on either how advancing education will benefit and help the applicant’s students, or, explaining an important lesson the applicants teach in their classroom
  • A letter of recommendation from an administrator (principal, superintendent, etc.)
  • Application received by Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EST

  • Essay
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Resume
  • Other outstanding achievements

Scholarship funds may be applied to any component of the school's comprehensive expenses (including tuition, books, lab fees, or on-campus room and board.).
